FCA has grown this past year with God’s grace and love for our students, community, and our School Sponsors.
It’s an honor to be serving these students, huddle sponsors, and community leaders. I hope that the opportunities that FCA has offered over the summer for our students and athletes will inspire and encourage them to be “ALL IN” (camp theme for 2014-2015) on their campus and in their daily walk. Colossians 3:17 reads “whatever we do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (HCSB).
Among others that the students have had the pleasure of growing in their faith with during these summertime FCA events, we had the pleasure of having Chette Williams, former Auburn football player and current team chaplain, share with us a testimony straight out of Matthew 14:22-32, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. It was a great opportunity for the three hundred students, athletes, and community leaders who were in attendance. Chette shared how Peter was “ALL IN” to trust Jesus with his daily walk and to take comfort in the fact that Jesus was with him through the times when he lost focus.
Here at FCA, we also are “ALL IN” with trusting our Lord and Savior, we will have struggles but we will not lose our focus on what being “ALL IN” means. We have continued to grow over the past year with many additional members and community supporters and are remaining “ALL IN” with God’s plans for us and our local community. With our growing partnerships with schools, All Sports, Northwest Florida State College, the Okaloosa Sheriff’s Department, Taylor Haugen Foundation, and local churches we were able to bless the students with support from the community!
We are so excited about future opportunities for our players and students!
I would like for you to take a moment to enjoy the following quick reflection reports:
Team Camp Report:
We had over 1250 athletes, coaches, staff and bus drivers from both counties attend FCA’s Team Camp. To give you a quick visual:
As you can see above, FCA has been blessed with many new Christians that will grow in Christ through FCA huddles this year
We have partnered with Destiny Emerging Leadership School and Destiny Worship Center to sponsor our first annual leadership day retreat! The retreat will take place on Saturday, August 29th from 8:30-3:30 at Destiny’s Emerging Leadership Campus. With this great opportunity, the huddle leaders and their huddle sponsors will be equipped with FCA materials and resources to take back into their schools to build strong leadership and grow their ministry in their schools. Youth Pastors from both counties will be there to support and share how they can serve the students.
Community Staying in Touch:
If you have not had the pleasure of being a part of Okaloosa Walton FCA’s social media, please reach out to us and stay in touch! At the bottom of our newsletter and on our new and improved website, you can see the icons for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! Updates, pictures, and encouragement are just a click away!
In closing, I would like to let you all know that FCA will be doing just what Chette Williams challenged us to do at our end of summer event: keep our eyes on Christ, step out on that water, and know that He is God. With this encouragement, we can go into the new school year knowing all of the resources Christ gives us to handle our daily struggles and how we can celebrate and worship knowing that all of the glory goes to God.
I hope that you continue to look for ways to serve in FCA and please if you have it in your heart to support our Okaloosa/Walton FCA with your financial donations and/or by volunteering your services please go to the donate tab of our website or contact me, I would love to spend some time with you sharing and offering you a way to be “ALL IN” and step out on the water for HIS service.
I’m excited to hear from you, and thank you for your time.
In HIS service.
